When Eileen Armitage joined Silver Buffalo, she was concerned that the company lacked offices in Hong Kong or Shenzhen and knew she needed to act quickly to build global support. As VP of Production, she inherited a significant challenge: driving quality improvements across a sprawling network of suppliers and sub-factoriees in China without any local office to provide oversight.
Her main supplier operated 13 sub-factories, and Silver Buffalo needed greater visibility to help them meet their quality targets. “We were motivated to improve our store-level quality and test-passing rates,” Eileen explains, “but without boots on the ground in China, it was difficult to identify where the real issues were happening.”

In October 2023, Insight Quality Services conducted a comprehensive Quality Management Audit that proved transformative. Unlike standard inspections, this deep-dive analysis brought together all stakeholders—Eileen, her company president Eric Silver, the supplier’s owner, and Insight’s team—to review findings collaboratively. “We didn’t just send them a report,” Eileen recalls. “We all sat down together and talked about the problems and how we were going to fix them.”
Following the audit, Insight implemented daily In-Line Inspections across the numerous sub-factories, providing consistent oversight six days a week. This regular presence identified production issues in real-time and delivered the data Silver Buffalo needed to make informed decisions.
The Outcome: A True Partnership Built on Trust and Results
The impact was remarkable. With better visibility into their supply chain, Silver Buffalo achieved improved quality outcomes and stronger supplier relationships. A supplier that initially resisted the inspections now actively requests their lead inspector by name.
