Insight Employee Spotlight: Kevin Su (Inspection & Sourcing Manager)
At Insight Quality, we take great pride in our employees. We aim to hire great people and always treat them right.
Doing so helps us get the best possible results for our customers.
Since we have such a great team, we decided to start a periodic feature to help us shine a light on our amazing people and introduce them to the world.
This blog is the first in that series, where we will be introducing a key employee to our audience. We begin with Kevin Su, our inspection and sourcing manager in Shenzhen, China.
Kevin has been working for Insight since 2015. He was one of our early hires and has over a decade of experience working in the quality control field.
Kevin’s Role at Insight Quality
Kevin is in charge of all the inspections conducted in the Guangdong Province area and his job keeps him quite busy.
On any given day you’ll find him liaising with and visiting factories, working with our customers to develop inspection checklists, answering customer questions, or training up junior inspectors.
How Kevin Got Into the Quality Industry
Kevin completed a bachelor’s degree in International Trade at the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing. He has always had an interest in the subject.
That interest led him to his first position doing quality control and sourcing for a company that sold electronics and a wide variety of household items. He has a strong passion for learning, which means he enjoys getting to know the ins-and-outs of different kinds of products. This makes the quality control field a good fit for his natural interests.
Developing Personally and Professionally
Kevin believes that in life you should strive for continuous improvement.
This led him, early in his career, to study and practice English for 3-6 hours a day. This gave him the communication tools to interact more easily with customers and business managers.
While it’s important to pursue business goals, it’s also important not to let family commitments slip. A key focus for Kevin is on spending as much time as possible with his two children.
Kevin’s Top 5 Tips for a Successful Product Inspection
According to Kevin, there are a number of things you should keep in mind when conducting an inspection.
- Make sure you fully understand the customer’s needs and their goals for the product.
- Understand the product on a technical level, including all of its features and functions.
- Communicate clearly with the factory about the results of the inspection and provide ideas for how they can make improvements in their processes.
- Make sure you follow AQL inspection guidelines to the letter and don’t develop a “let-it-slide” attitude.
- Communicate everything you can to the customer about their inspection result and the condition of their products.
Following the above guidelines and maintaining a professional attitude helps to ensure a successful inspection.
A Valued Part of the Team
Kevin is an important member of the team here at Insight Quality and has developed great relationships with his colleagues and the management.
When he is not on the job, he participates in a variety of activities. He enjoys ping pong, running, and basketball. He also enjoys working to improve his English, making new friends, and spending time with his family.
We love having Kevin as a part of our team, and he has helped contribute to our continued growth and success as a company.
Thank you, Kevin, for all that you do!
